My 4 most anticipated Books of 2025 | Talk of the Timeline #3
you know what people will be obsessing over before they even know it themselves
Happy Reaping Day, dear reader.
By the time you’re reading this, publication day has come and gone, but right now, at this very moment, I am 14 again. I am power-walking home from school, my mockingjay pin fastened to my blazer, logging into Tumblr with the urgency of a Capitol announcement. A book about Haymitch? Are you joking? Thank you, Suzanne Collins, for your service to the people.
With that in mind, this week’s Talk of the Timeline is dedicated to my four most anticipated romance books of 2025. Last week, we talked about television (if you haven’t binged Adolescence yet, I am deeply disappointed), but this week, I am here to make you an intellectual specifically, an intellectual of the romance genre.
Picture this: you’re at work drinks, and small talk is circling the drain. And just when it seems like there’s no way out BAM you seamlessly pivot into a conversation about the hottest upcoming books. You have your finger on the pulse, you know what people will be obsessing over before they even know it themselves. You are the tastemaker. And these four books? They are your secret weapon.
📖 Sunrise on the Reaping – March 18th (Suzanne Collins)
It’s time to return to Panem. But not as we left it. Set decades before Katniss, this is the story of a Reaping that changed everything. It’s dark, it’s political, it’s completely consuming. And if you thought you’d made peace with the Hunger Games series, think again.
Good Reads Says: Technically the second prequel novel to the original trilogy (after 2020’s The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes), Sunrise on the Reaping rewinds to the morning of the 50th annual Hunger Games. It seems a familiar fellow by the name of Haymitch Abernathy has been selected to compete in a diabolical new arena where everything is venomous, poisonous, contagious, or otherwise unpleasant.
📖 Atmosphere: A Love Story – June 3rd (Taylor Jenkins Reid)
Imagine if the most legendary love story of the 20th century wasn’t what we thought it was. TJR is back, unearthing a forgotten romance that unfolds against the backdrop of ambition, art, and the kind of fame that devours everything in its path. Expect glamour, heartbreak, and a love that lingers long after the credits roll.
Good Read Says: Set in the ambitious days of the 1980s space shuttle program, the latest novel from Taylor Jenkins Reid promises adventure, romance, intrigue, and a physics professor determined to be one of the first female scientists in space. NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, circa 1984, should be a fantastic setting for the author’s patented technique of high drama in interesting places
📖 Say You’ll Remember Me – April 1st (Abby Jimenez)
Abby Jimenez does what Abby Jimenez does best: gives us a romance so heart-tugging, so funny, and so painfully real that we forget these aren’t our actual friends. A story of second chances, fate, and the way some people find their way back to each other no matter how much time has passed.
Good Reads Says: If there’s one thing better than a handsome veterinarian, it’s a handsome veterinarian with a cute kitten. That’s what Samantha always says. So when her date goes pretty much flawlessly, she’s tempted to just leave it at that—a perfect memory of the ultimate pleasant evening. But Fate, as is its wont, marches forward.
📖 Great Big Beautiful Life – April 22nd (Emily Henry)
Emily Henry gets us. She just does. This one is for anyone who’s ever felt stuck between the life they have and the life they thought they’d be living by now. It’s smart, it’s sharp, it’s devastatingly romantic. You’ll highlight entire pages and consider making them your personality.
Good Reads Says: This pleasantly twisty romance features two writers in competition, and maybe in love. Rookie author Alice Scott hopes to write the book of the year, but she’ll have to deal with industry legend Hayden Anderson. Since they’ve both been invited to stay in a gorgeous mansion for a month, negotiations should be hot.
About Twenty Five Reset
Hi, I’m Niamh, and everyone was right—25 really is a turning point. I finally know who I am, what I want, and my purpose… but it’s nothing like I expected.
I work in TV, but it doesn’t define me. This space is my reset—embracing the mess, reflecting, and creating again. You can expect:
